Lois Lowry Enthralls 2015 West Roxbury Reads Audience

As the keynote event of the April 2015 West Roxbury Reads The Giver programming, author Lois Lowry spoke to an enthralled audience of more than 200 at the Lyndon School Auditorium about her Newbery Medal award-winning 1994 book and also about the stages of her own life. A slide show complemented Lowry’s stories; her photos were touching, and the anecdotes she shared were entertaining and often surprisingly amusing. At the end, the author took questions from the large audience, almost exclusively those of the children with hands raised. Lowry received a standing ovation after talk.

Prior to the lecture, which was the capstone of a month-long series of events numbering more than 25 that centered around various aspects of The Giver (such as memory, pets, and aging), the Friends held a reception for the author open to the public at which she signed books for all comers.
